Stance: I hate cilantro.

What does cilantro taste like to you?
palm olive kitchen soap
Most Hated Cilantro-Containing Food:
Usually I like the food it's in, if only it didn't have cilantro. But I'll say salsa, because I also hate tomatoes.
Do people in your family hate cilantro, too? Who?
My mother.
If cilantro were a historical malevolent dictator, who would it be? Why?
Geghis Kahn, because he started out in Asia and then spread out to cover most of the earth, just like cilantro.
My cilantro story, first experience, recent anecdote, rant, etc...
I first encountered cilantro when having dinner at a friend's home. Her mom was a gourmet cook and she made a very fancy Indian dinner for a large gathering. One of the dishes had an abundance of cilantro in it, but I didn't know what it was. I just thought she hadn't rinsed out the dishes properly after cleaning so it tasted like soap. I didn't want to offend her so I ate the whole thing. A couple of years later I moved to California and started finding it in all of the Mexican places I was eating. Then a few years after that I came back to New York and by then it was in half food I was trying to eat, no matter what the cuisine. I can't get away from it and now whenever I order a dish I have to ask if it has cilantro because people tend to put it in the most random dishes now. I've ordered hamburgers and stakes that have had cilantro on them, large heaps of it, in fact. I'm in hell!
