I had cilantro for the first time in Israel in 1989. It was in a dish at a restaurant so I singled it out and asked the wait staff what it was. I have an extreme dislike for it and have never liked it since. I have tried to like it- it's in a lot of restaurant food. The worst thing that happens is when I forget to request my dish without cilantro. I can't even eat around it because it's taste taints everything. I have heard that it's hereditary for Jews to hate cilantro. Is that true???
