I never get to taste it - my nose tells me beforehand
Most Hated Cilantro-Containing Food:
Salsa
Do people in your family hate cilantro, too? Who?
Not directly, but my mother-in-law hates it.
If cilantro were a historical malevolent dictator, who would it be? Why?
My cilantro story, first experience, recent anecdote, rant, etc...
I'd never tasted it before, although I had tried burritos in the US and loved them. Once though I had one that just tasted off. I found by taking this green leaf out it was barely edible.
I love the seeds, especially dry-roasted and ground. But whenever I find a recipe calling for coriander, I substitute basil or parsely. It's not the same, but it can be just as good or better.
When I go to http://wellington.thursdaynightcurry.com/ my standing order is "chicken jalfrezi medium hot no coriander". But I don't need to say it anymore. They know me there.
More about me:
I am one of about a dozen counter-tenors in New Zealand - guys who sing high.
I like wine, whisky and food without coriander.
