any food where the cilantro is chopped up so fine that it can't be removed
Do people in your family hate cilantro, too? Who?
My father hates it as much as I do
If cilantro were a historical malevolent dictator, who would it be? Why?
None. Cilantro has become ubiquitous (which makes it more loathsome), while dictators die eventually
My cilantro story, first experience, recent anecdote, rant, etc...
Click to read and comment on my story! I first tasted cilantro in 1985, and it still remains one of my most traumatic experiences to this day. I was eating seafood noodle soup in a Vietnamese restaurant, and I popped a shrimp into my mouth. I immediately tasted something HORRIBLE and spat it out, thinking that the poor shrimp must have had a disease when it died!
I soon learned that the shrimp was not the problem. I next scooped up a whole soup-spoonful of chopped up green stuff that looked like parsley. HUUUUUUUUUUGE MISTAKE! I'd never tasted anything so unspeakably horrific in my life. I gagged repeatedly and frightened the people at my table. They thought I was going to puke (but my stomach was still empty so I couldn't). I gulped down all of my soda; but, the horrific taste would not go away, so I drank all of my sister's soda. The taste still lingered! My appetite was ruined and I continued gagging even as we left the restaurant and drove home.
More about me:
I traveled a lot, and I'm not at all narrow minded when it comes to food. I truly like EVERYTHING, as long as it doesn't have cilantro in it. I eat (and enjoy) beets, liver, escargot, collard greens, goat cheese, raw oysters- you name it! I can even eat the horrific-smelling durian. (I admit I'm not too fond of durian, but I can at least tolerate it!)
Given the fact that I like such a wide variety of foods, yet cannot tolerate even the smell of cilantro, that should say a lot!
