If cilantro were a historical malevolent dictator, who would it be? Why?
Josef Stalin. Who was also not nice, omnipresent[pervades everywhere], poor taste, and forced everyone to do it his way.
My cilantro story, first experience, recent anecdote, rant, etc...
Some time ago while dining out, I ordered a salad which looked fine but tasted peculiar. I called the waiter and commented that the salad had not been washed. He spoke to the chef, who assured me that the salad was most diligently washed and prepared with utmost care. I asked them both to taste and experience the muddy flavour which pervaded the dish. After much sampling and discussion, and tasting the individual components, it transpired that the source was indeed fresh cilantro leaves [coriander in this part of the world]and the chef stated that this gave his salads an extra special boost.
I pointed out that it was not mentioned in the menu, so could I have a sans-coriander replacement. They did so with considerable unwillingness, then poor service, and I never returned.
