gazpacho! and salsa! and guacamole! but i like these foods A LOT without the beast
Do people in your family hate cilantro, too? Who?
my papa hates cilantro, too. and caraway seeds are also gross.
If cilantro were a historical malevolent dictator, who would it be? Why?
everyone will say hitler-- so i say Idi Amin, dictator of Uganda from 1971 to 1979, is notorious for being one of the bloodiest dictators of the 20th century. Idi Amin came to power on January 25, 1971, when he succeeded in a coup to take control of Uganda. He is responsible for the torture and murder of approximately 300,000 people.
My cilantro story, first experience, recent anecdote, rant, etc...
i was at this kitschy/vegan friendly restaurant called the friendly toast in portsmouth, nh-- where i ordered the MISSION BURRITO, because yes, i love mexican food as much as i hate cilantro, which places me in an interesting dichotomy. the waitress brought out my order. i was jazzed to get into it and enjoy the rice and bean avocado goodness- but to my dismay it was loaded with CILANTRO.
i sent it back, disgusted.
when the waitress brought me a new burrito SANS CILANTRO and i chomped into it, i STILL tasted CILANTRO. i sent it back again, even though the waitress assured me she was right there when they made it and it had no cilantro. beaten, i said i wasn't hungry anymore. yet she brought me a THIRD burrito- and i felt like a JERK. i tried it again, and yes CILANTRO.
was i crazy?
upon later inspection, this dirty weed was found hiding in some "herb paste" that the rice was cooked in.
More about me:
try goya's pico de gallo- salsa without the cilantro.
CILANTRO IS THE BEAST
