The first time I noticed the taste of cilantro was when I was about 20 years old. Me and a friend went out for dinner at a Thai restaurant and I ordered a big soup. I immediately noticed the taste of cilantro and didn't know what it was but it was awful. I didn't think too much of it though and kept eating swallowing it down just thinking that it was something new and different. After the meal I had extreme gut rot- tightness in my stomach to the point where I could move, fetal position on the couch for the night. Woke up in the morning out of it and feeling weak. It took me a day or two just to have a normal meal again. This type of episode has now happened about 10 times in my life and seems to get worse and worse with age. Last night I ate out at a Mexican place and now knowing my allergy told the waiter that I can't eat cilantro so they brought me some tacos with no cilantro, rice that had what looked like cilantro and refried beans. I usually notice the taste of cilantro immediately but in this case didn't, or maybe did but it seemed like really small doses. Right away though, I felt out of it. It started with stomach ache, then kinda foggy headed. Me and my girlfriend left and when I got home I was extremely tired and out of it. I then started feeling my heart beating heavy, got hot and cold flashes, heart arrhythmia, the shakes, nausea, cramps/gut rot, dizziness, weakness, sweaty and goosebumps. This lasted the whole night. I could not sleep and I could not throw up, I tried but just gagged and only a little came up. I took some pepto bismol and that did nothing. I tossed and turned in bed with all those symptoms until about 3am finally falling asleep and waking up at 8am with the same symptoms. They lasted all morning until I fell asleep again and woke up at 3pm feeling weak, tired, empty but no other symptoms. Hopefully that will teach me to never eat that poison again, I'd rather go hungry, I wouldn't give that experience to my worst enemy...just terrible.
Wondering if anyone else experiences these same symptoms, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks
