Tommy from down the street used to speak wonders of this green leafy herb. "It tastes like heaven, and then some", he would say. November 6th, 2002. I was 12 years old, I was scared, lonely, confused, searching for purpose. I wondered if this mysterious herb was my key to freedom, to life. I walk through the grocery store intently with my mother. I explained to her this mysterious herb and how it may be our path to herbal enlightenment. She was easily convinced. Fifteen minutes and 78 cents later, we walked out the door of that old grocery store smiling. That night, my mother tucked me in and promised the cilantro was safe in the fridge and would be ready to consume for tomorrow. That was the last time I would ever see her. I can only assume the cilantro had something to do with it. Mother, if you're reading this, call 911.
