I think the reason I hate cilantro is because as a child my father made me pick it from the garden in our yard and it left a smell on my hands which I could never get rid of. I don't think cilantro was very popular in the early 70's, causing my father who hailed from India to grow cilantro and other scarce vegetables like bitter melon, and eggplant, so he could make his spicy curry dishes, which to my disdain I also smelled like. He called it mint or coriander and would make some sort of green paste that he added to some of his foods, it smelled and tasted pretty awful. Thankfully as an adult I don't have to touch or eat that crap.
