My introduction to cilantro was at a salad bar in San Diego in the early eighties. I took a bite and immediately went back and said, "There's something rotten in my salad." They looked at me like I was nuts. I had never heard of or tasted cilantro before then. How I managed to dodge that bullet for so long I don't know. Unfortunately, years of blissful ignorance ended that day. I HATE CILANTRO! In addition to the leaves tasting rotten, to me the seeds taste like soap.
